Disciplinary Action against Karen Bullington, M.D.
The Georgia Composite Medical Board has sanctioned Karen Bullington, M.D. after concluding that she prescribed excessive amounts of controlled substances (including narcotics) to a North Carolina resident with fibromyalgia who showed obvious signs of drug dependency or abuse. The board limited what controlled substances Bullington could prescribe during the next two years, imposed a fine of $3,500 plus $500 for administrative costs, and ordered her to take continuing education courses in pain management and appropriate prescribing of controlled substances. Bullington practices at the Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Center in Marietta, Georgia.
