Marc R. Rose, M.D. Surrenders California Medical License

In 2014, the Medical Board of California charged ophthalmologist Marc R. Rose, who operates the OC Medical Center and South Coast Laser Center in Costa Mesa, California, with prescribing medical marijuana without adequately evaluating patients. The accusation document (shown below) states: California law permits marijuana to be obtained if recommended by a physician “who has determined that the person’s health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine, or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief.” After receiving complaints, the board sent two investigators to the OC Medical Center wearing concealed audio and video recording devices.
