Not at all. The message is pure rubbish. About.com posted an excellent rebuttal to the e-mail message, which it considered an “urban legend.”
- In 2001, a Multiple Sclerosis Foundation medical advisor labeled the message “rapidly misleading and scandalous.” The latest (2009) version of this report concludes that aspartame is “quite safe and refers to the circulating e-mail message as a hoax.
- The Aspartame Information Service, sponsored by Ajinomoto, a leading maker of aspartame, has science-based reports.
