USPHS Bulletins Supporting Fluoridation

April 25, 2023

The U.S. Public Health Service strongly supports fluoridation of community water supplies. In 1968 it began issuing periodic BULLETINS to help community leaders answer questions and deal with unfounded opposition. In 1983, it began issuing “Dear Colleague” letters that also provided information about smokeless tobacco and other topics related to dental public health.  Although some of these reports are outdated, all were valid at the time they were issued and many refute false claims that are still used today.
